Herta "Oma" Maria Olive

Herta Maria Olive, age 86, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 24, 2023. Herta was born in Munich, Germany on November 2, 1936. She met her husband of 50 years, Belton, while he was stationed in the US Army. She came to the United States in the 1950's working as a nanny in New York until reuniting with Belton, settling in Florence, Alabama. In 1964 they moved to Tennessee. Herta enjoyed entertaining her friends and family and working in her many gardens. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her family.

Herta is preceded in death by her husband, Belton Harold Olive; parents, Johann and Barbara Wamser; brother-in-law, Albert Summerer; her cherished dog, Muffy. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Janet Purkey (Mark), Donna Wilburn (Wade), Kenneth Olive (Pam); grandchildren, Cody Jones (Kendra), Kaitlan Brown (Cody), Brooke Purkey, Anna Grace Epperly, Laiken Epperly, Chris Queen and step-granddaughter Michaela Wilburn; great grandchildren, Wyatt and Emma Jones, Ivey Brown; sister, Barbara Summerer; nieces, Debra Smart (David), Sabrina Knispel; nephews, Larry Scott (Janice), Don Scott (Donna) and Florian Summerer.

A special thank you to Angie Davis for loving our mom so much and taking care of her.

A visitation will be held for Herta on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 12:00 - 2:00pm at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow. A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
