I met Red Hickman Jan 2004 when i was hired to assist him in the Bus Shop at Knoxville Tours.
Red was a great mechanic and bus driver , he went above and beyond the duties he had to deal with as a driver and mechanic . There were many times the Bus Mechanics would come & go , and Red would be called off the road into the shop to carry out the repairs.
Red was one tough ole bird with a very short fuse , and would tell you exactly what he was thinking and stand strong for what he believed in . He was a man of his word and would help anyone in need.
Red Hickman you truly will be missed

We were so sorry to hear of Ira's death. Ira and I graduated from Carter High School in 1955 and he was always such a fine boy and man. Your family sounds wonderful. Jack and I will not be able to visit with you. Jack has had a brain seizure and cannot drive and I can't see well enough to trust myself driving at night. May God Bless and keep you always but especially during this difficult time.

Ira Hickman was my papaw Bud and will be missed dearly. I looked up to him so much growing up due to all of his hard work and dedication in everything he done. We shared so many memories, but one of my favorite was when he and my grandmother took me to watch the Citrus Bowl in Florida. Tennessee took on Ohio State that year with Hesiman Trophy Winner Eddie George. It was rainy that day, but that didn't matter because we were together and had amazing seats. I wished I could've seen him one last time before he passed, but I'm so glad he isn't in anymore pain. I know I'll see you again one day papaw Bud and I love you so much! Love John Raymond.

Billy said he enjoyed all the years of working with Red at Trailways. We have wonderful memories of you all opening your home, and sharing your love with Danny when he was little and you took care of him. Friendship is a treasure.

I feel honored to have been a friend of Ira’s. I met and became good friends with him through driving at Knoxville Tours. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone he came in contact with. I sure will miss him.
