

Jack Alley, age 71, of Knoxville, passed away Friday, November 18, at his home. He was a beloved member of Callahan Road Baptist Church. Jack grew up in Kentucky and was a loyal University of Kentucky basketball fan. He married his high school sweetheart, Peggy, and was drafted by the United States Marine Corps. After release from active duty, he and Peggy moved to Knoxville where Jack worked at the Knoxville News Sentinel and retired as a district manager. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Octavia Alley. Survivors include wife of 49 years, Peggy; son, John, and daughter-in-law, Amy; mother-in-law, Eloise Webb; brothers, Howard (Barbara) and Dale (Kathy). The family will receive friends Sunday, November 20, at Weaver Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with the funeral following and Pastors Marc Sasser and Mike Patty officiating. Family and friends will meet at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens Monday, November 21, 10:00 a.m. for a graveside service. Pallbearers will be Gary Douglas, Adam and Mason Blair, Robin Bryant, Jim Milligan, Spencer Howe and T.J. Howe. Honorary pallbearers; Paul Tipton, David Hindman, Ted Lowe, Sam Reynolds and Sonny Morgan.
