Jack W. Day, 85, of Knoxville, Tennessee, departed this life on August 15, 2018. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was also the owner of Jack Day Construction and Jack’s Mini Mart in Rocky Hill.
Preceded in death by his loving wife, Bobbie (Mullins) Day; parents, Carl E. and Loretta (Davenport) Day; sisters, Pauline Vann (Hot Tamale), Jeanette Baker; brothers, Eugene and Roy Day; brother-in-law, Holland Phillips; and in-laws, Rev. Lloyd and Elsie (Royston) Mullins; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde and Helen Clifton, Ralph and Ann Mullins, Fayne and Ruby Olson, Junior Mullins, Shirley Day, Ray, Mike and Dwayne Mullins, and Denise Seal.
Jack is survived by daughter and son-in law, Kim and Bill George; daughter, Donna (Day) McAmis; son, Brad Day; grandsons, Tyler, Alex, and Dylan McAmis, Jackson Day and Ethan Bolling; step-grandchildren, Alan George, Kim (Rich) Hart; sister, Hazel Phillips; brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen and Jo Day, Don Day, Rev. Lester and Glenda Mullins, John and Jane Mullins, Paul and Sandra Mullins, Dennis (Doc) and Vicky Mullins, Beverly (Bear) McGinnis, Tony Seal; nephew who is loved as a son, Carlos (Toddy) Vann and wife Gwen; special fishing buddy, Captain Jimbo Bishop and family; Jack's beloved dog, Slick; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
There will be a Gathering of Friends from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 19, 2018, at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37919, with a Graveside Service to follow at 3:00 pm in the Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Rev. Burly Lester Mullins. Pallbearers include Tyler, Alex and Dylan McAmis, Ethan Bolling, Shane Day and Tony Seal, and honorary pallbearer, Jackson Day.
