Jack Winston Taylor

Jack Winston Taylor, age 80, of South Knoxville went home to be with his Savior on Saturday, March 9, 2024. He was born January 1, 1944 in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia and raised in Oak Ridge and Kingston, Tennessee.

Jack was a 1962 graduate of Roane County High School and a 1967 graduate of Tennessee Tech University with a degree in Business Management.

Jack worked for many years in the banking industry and retired from Gray Hodges Corporation.

He was a longtime member and Deacon at Mount Olive Baptist Church where he was a member of the Berean Sunday School Class.

Jack loved antique cars especially the 1957 Chevy Bel Air. He was an avid football fan and closely followed the UT Vols. Jack especially enjoyed spending time with his family, going on family vacations, laughing over a good game of Mexican Train Dominoes and singing and cooking with his wife, Marlene.

Jack was an unapologetic repentant christian. He lived a grace filled life, rested in Christ and shared his faith in word and deed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, E.A. Taylor, Jr. and Viola Taylor Paluzelle and wife of 51 years, Sue H. Taylor.

Jack is survived by wife, Marlene Boney Taylor, daughters and sons-in-law, Emily Taylor Groves and Kelly Groves, Jacquelyn Taylor Goforth and Scott Goforth; grandsons, Benjamin Goforth and Remington Groves; sister, Becky Taylor Haile and friend Lee Rhinemiller; step daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Boney Knight and Chris Knight; step-daughter, Edana Kaye Boney; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Isaiah) Wallace, Jacob Knight, Tai Cates, Serenity Cates, Isabella Knight and Adrianna Knight.

The family will receive friends 4-6 pm Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 2500 Maryville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920 with a Celebration of Life Service at 6 pm. Rev. Kirby Ownby officiating. Family and friends will gather at 2 pm Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Mount Olive Cemetery for graveside services.
