She was an active member and pianist/organist of Hillcrest United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She was a graduate of Young High School, class of 1950, and went on to attend Tennessee Wesleyan College. Jama was a school bus owner and operator for Knox County Schools for many years. Jama enjoyed gardening, canning, and sewing; and was the president of Knox County Farm Bureau Women's Group. She was a loving wife, mother, and nana to her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Russell and Anna Lee Newman.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 67 years, Carl Lee Mills; son, David Newman Mills (Lorie); daughter, Karla Mills Hunt (Scott); grandchildren: Seth Hunt, Trey Hunt, Dylan Mills, and Ashley Drysdale, Wesley Hammock, Renee Hammock; sister, Charlye Faye King; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will meet at 10:45 AM for an 11:00 AM graveside service Monday, December 27, 2021 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
