James was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years Carol Greer Cardwell, and his parents Louie and Lillian Cardwell; brother-in-laws, Ralph Maples, Robert Berry, Albert Greer, Roy Cole; sister-in-laws, Kathy Greer, and Shirley Greer.
He is survied by his sister, Alma Maples; sister-in-laws, Nancy Greer Berry, Linda Greer Cole; brother-in- law, Ralph Greer and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather for a graveside service at 11:00am on August 2, 2019 at Berry Highland South Cemetery, 9010 E. Simpson Rd, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920
