James Wallace Doane Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024, at the age of 98. Born on July 9, 1926, Jim lived a full and rich life, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service.
Jim was married to the love of his life, Ella Jean Doane, for nearly 78 years. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared countless memories. Their enduring love was an inspiration to all who knew them.
He was the proud father of three children: James Wallace Doane Jr., Richard Wayne Doane Sr., and Teresa Doane Loxley. His love and wisdom shaped their lives, and he continued to be a guiding presence for his six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
In 1950, Jim began his career with the US Atomic Energy Commission at the Y-12 Plant in Oak Ridge, TN. Starting in the fire department, he demonstrated an incredible work ethic and dedication, eventually earning a position in the Tool and Engineering department. Jim’s career spanned nearly five decades, and he retired in 1999, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and commitment.
Jim’s life was marked by his quiet strength, kindness, light-heartedness, and the deep love he had for his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.

A private family service will be held to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jim’s name to a charity of your choice.
