

Garner, James (Jimmy), age 58, of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, after a brief battle with cancer. He was of the Baptist faith and loved restoring old cars. Preceded in death by father, James (Huse) Garner; mother, Bernice Bivens; sister, Donna Kennedy. Survivors include wife of 35 years, Carolyn Garner; daughters and son-in-laws, Patti and Grant Caughorn, Terri and Joe Barbra, Kim and Dee Clark; 10 grandchildren, Courtney, Destiny, Jessie, Kristen, Jacob, Makayla, Matthew, Kaydence, Carly and Jonathan; sisters and brother-in-laws, Shirley (Elzie) Butler, Vonore, Phyllis (Bill) Moore, West Virginia, Debbie (David) Adkins, Dandridge; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff (Patricia) Garner of Maryville; several nieces; nephews; special friends, Benny, Gary, James, Alex, Dave, Kenny, and Hobby. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 18, 2011 from 5:00-7:00 p.m., in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, with the service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held on Monday, June 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Pastor Norman Smelcer officiating.
