James David Gunter, 56, passed away suddenly, due to injuries sustained in a vehicle accident on December 2, 2017 near his lakeside home. David, a resident of Knoxville for the past two decades, was born January, 1961, in Middlesboro,Kentucky. David graduated from Middlesboro High School and attended LMU, briefly. He earned a Law Enforcement degree as well as a Masters in Business. David was an Army Veteran who served 20 proud years for his country, retiring as an E-9 First Sergeant. He worked at the US Department of Veteran Affairs in Knoxville, as well as owning his own professional cleaning business. David is preceded in death by his mother, Betty June Webb-Gunter; uncles, Don, Glen, and Carl Webb and aunt, Anna Lou Webb of Middlesboro, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Janice Gunter; step-children, Wesley and Brooke Helton; brother-in-laws, Ronnie and Donnie Gibson; step-grandchildren, Brandon and Ethan; sisters, Donna Broadwater and husband David, Betty Jo Tanner; nephews David England and wife Nicole, Steven Tanner, Patrick McDonald; niece, Angela Rogers; great-nephews, Cassen Rogers, James McDonald and a host of other family and friends. David was a hard worker and straight shooter with a very outgoing personality and a big heart. He loved the lake and was an avid boater as well as a UT fan and a Dallas Cowboys fan. David made sure that every day was lived to the fullest potential and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. A Celebration of David’s Life, with Military Honors, will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, December 9, 2017 at Berry Highland West, 9913 Sherrill Blvd. Knoxville Tennessee 37932.
