James "Jimmy" Dewey Jones, age 85, of Sevierville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 19, 2018. He was a member of South Side Baptist Church for 19 years. Jimmy graduated from Young High in 1952 and was captain of the football team. He worked in maintenance for 30 years in Chicago for CRS. He retired in 1998 where he moved home to Knoxville. Jimmy loved spending time outdoors, gardening and playing golf. He was a family man who loved to spend time with them. He is preceded in death by his parents; Vaughn and Ebbie Jones; brothers Vaughn Jones Jr. and Robert Jones; sister, Bobbie Sue Cardwell; and son Jimmy Jones Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Mary E Jones; son, Michael L. Jones; daughter, Sheila M. Jones; grandson, Evan J. Jones; brothers, John H. Jones and Curtis Jones; sisters, Beulah Braxton and Edna Thomas. Family will receive friends, Tuesday, May 20, 2018 from 6:00pm -8:00pm at Berry Highland South, 9010 Simpson Rd. with funeral service to follow with Rev. Clarence Gresham officiating. Family and friends will met at the funeral home around 1:00pm, Wednesday, May 23rd for a procession guided by The Patriot Guard Riders to East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Hwy. for a 2:00om graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Tennessee 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
