James Donald Lane

James Donald Lane, age 80, departed this life on Sunday, July 30, 2017, after a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Don was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. In his spare time you could find Don on his boat bass fishing with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Luther and mother, Mildred; brothers, Ray and Claude Lane; brother-in-law, Jim McCarter. Don is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diane; son, Darren (Christy) Lane; daughter, Dorothy (Scott) Dawson; grandchildren, Tyler and Cassie Dawson and Hunter Lane of whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol McCarter, Libby (Rocky) Elliott; brothers, Archie (Lynell), Paul (Louise), Jerry (Gay) Lane; sister-in-law’s, Jeanette and Kathy Lane and several nieces and nephews. Our many thanks to all the Covenant Hospice workers who helped care for our precious loved one. Family will receive friends Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 5:30pm until 7:30pm at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 2:00pm at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2200 Governor John Sevier Highway, with full military honors. Rev. Kent Williams to officiate.
