James “Jay” Chester Melton age 81 of Knoxville, passed away March 7, 2024 at his home. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Jay was loved by all who knew him. Preceded in death by wife, Helen; parents, Charlie and Anna Haun Melton; sisters, Marie Driver, Willadean Muncey and Irene Arms; brothers, Russell Melton and Floyd Melton. Survived by, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill (Susie) Pointer, Robert Pointer, Wilma Duggan and Don (Connie) Pointer; several nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Tuesday at Weaver’s Chapel with the service to follow at 7 pm. Rev. Mark Braddom officiating.
