James Edward Ray of Knoxville, TN passed away on May 19, 2020 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. James faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army for three years. He was of the Baptist faith. James enjoyed working on classic cars with his sons and fishing. He worked at Sea Ray for more than thirty years, up until his retirement. James was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

James had waiting on him at the gates of Eternity with open arms his Father Raymond Ray and son Jason Ray.

He leaves behind to carry on his legacy his loving and devoted wife Jill Ray ;mother Wilma Ray; son Joshua (Kim) Ray; brothers George(Susie)Ray, Raymond(Karen)Ray; Donna Crabtree, Pam Ray, and Lisa Ray and two beautiful granddaughters Katie and Lauryn Ray and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Services for James will take place on Saturday May,23, 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery, 4500 Woodlawn Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920 at 12:00pm with Rev. Dorothy Pratt to officiate the service. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.berryfuneralhome.com

James and I were best friends back in the 70’s He and I worked side by side for Pilot Oil on Northshore for almost 3 years. So sad to hear this , thoughts and prayers for the Ray family. We had some good times together great memories

I sure hate to hear this ,when James and his wife stopped by my shop last yr "which used to be his dads in the 70s" I didnt even remember him ,he had changed put on weight but once I knew who it was we talked about cars ,himself,his dad ,my dad, and Jesus , I'm Truly sorry and it hurts my heart but i know he was heaven bound , keep up the work of the Lord and 1 day not far away we will all be together again, I'll pray for you his family

Sorry to hear of James passing. I worked with him at Sea Ray for over 29 years. He always made people laugh and I really enjoyed working with him. He was always proud of the work he did and if he worked on something you know it was done right. Prayers of comfort for you all
