James Russell Rhea went home on November 8, 2025, to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jim grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, and attended East High School. He was a man of uncompromising integrity with an impeccable work ethic. He retired from Rohm and Haas after 35 years of service. Jim married the love of his life, Evelyn A. Rhea, in 1961. They were blessed to have been together for 64 years. They have three children and seven grandchildren.
Jim was a man of faith, humility, and profound reverence for the Lord. He poured his life into his family above all else. He was a devoted man of God who loved his Savior, his family, and sharing the message of the One who gave His life for them: Jesus Christ. He was a loving and faithful husband, dad, papaw, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending church, woodworking, fishing, working in his vegetable garden, and spending time outdoors.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Evelyn A. Rhea; his children, Rusty and his wife, Krista, Sherri and her husband, Scott, and Chris and his wife, Lacey; and his grandchildren, Maura, Callie, Caleb, Eli, Chloe, Hannah, and Ellie.
Family and friends will meet at 10:45 AM on Monday, November 24, 2025 at Berry Highland South Cemetery for an 11:00 AM graveside service.
In place of flowers, donations may be made to Camp-Ba-Yo-Ca or Yoke Youth Ministries.
