He was at home surrounded by his loving family and his caregivers that had become like family when the Lord softly called his name.
Jim served in the Army and was very proud to be a Veteran. He was a member of Sand Branch Church. He retired from a job he loved at Shook and Fletcher.
Anyone who knew Jim, would say that he was definitely a giver. Nothing brought him greater joy than sharing with others, whether it be family, friends, or mere acquaintances.
It's hard to say what his next passion would be, but he could always be found either working in his yard, garden, fishing, or driving the countryside with his "special Angel". He had a heart of gold and an unwavering love for his family, there were no boundaries to what he would do for them. Jim so graciously tolerated and went along with the antics of his "girls", he had a great sense of humor!
Jim was preceded by his wife of 53 years, Rebecca King Swaggerty; parents, Matt and Mary Swaggerty; sisters, Dorothy Ray and Grace Hurst; brothers, Lloyd "Joe" Swaggerty and Mack "Tom" Swaggerty and several good fishing buddies.
He is survived by his daughters, Melissa (Whit) Mabry, Amy (Chris) Stephens; grandchildren, Zack (Miranda) Mabry, Madison (Dustin) Smith, Mason (Salena) Mabry; great-grandchildren, Saylor Mabry, Blackley Smith; nieces, nephews, special neighbors, friends and extended family Clarence Pratt and Pat Lambert. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Sand Branch Church.
