James W. Wyrick Sr., age 93, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at his home after a short illness. Mr. Wyrick retired from UPS after 38 years of service. He is of the Baptist faith. Mr. Wyrick was an avid golfer and he and his son-in-law, Darrell Thomas participated in many tournaments throughout Middle Georgia. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his many visits with his daughter in Illinois and Georgia.
James is preceded in death by the love of his life, Rachel; parents, Ruby and Charley Wyrick; daughter, Debora Thomas; son, James W. Wyrick, Jr.; brother, Henry Wyrick; sisters, Lorene Temple and Betty Wyrick.
James is survived by his granddaughters, Wendi Thomas, Christy Michel, Lindsey Richardson (Landon), Sheena Smith (John); nieces, Patti Gish, Cheryl Harrison, Tonya Harris, Tracey Hurley; great nephew, David Hilston of Velden, Germany; great nieces, Dana Alberson; great grandchildren, Cash Michel, Tripp Richardson, Charlee Richardson, Riley Smith and Lily Smith; daughter-in-law, Cherie Wyrick.
The family would like to thank the Covenant Hospice staff for their excellent care. He was grateful to Rev. Jeff Hunter and the members of Marble City Baptist Church for their prayers and love along with Covenant Hospice Chaplain, Mark Robinson for his many visits and inspirational conversations and prayers.
A graveside service will be held for Mr. Wyrick on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 11am at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
