Jerry E. Sims Sr.

Sims, Sr., Jerry E., age 76, of South Knoxville, passed away Friday, December 24, 2010. Jerry was a member of Meridian Baptist Church and the Couples and Friends Sunday School Class. He was retired from Sheet Metal Workers Union. Jerry loved to play his guitar and his favorite artist was Chet Atkins. He also loved street rods but his greatest passion was for his wife and grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Julia Sims; son Reggie Sims and sister, Iva Jones. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Janis Sims; daughter, Suzanne Henson; son and daughter-in-law, J. Gene, Jr. and Dana Sims; grandchildren: Clark, Tate, Whitney, and Alexa Henson; Tiffany, Kristopher, and Braxton Sims; sisters, Joan Holbert and Ruby DeLapp; sister-in-law, Rebecca Hodges; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Meridian Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Service at 8:00 PM, Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Family and friends will meet at Mt. Olive Cemetery on Wednesday at 11:00 AM for interment services. Memorials may be made to Meridian Baptist Church 6513 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920.
