We will surely miss the smiling face of our Moon Pie Man at the South Knoxville Senior Center. Buddy made the rounds almost every day, and took the time to speak to every person in the building. He always had a corny joke to share, and always, always had a smile on his face. Rest in peace, sweet Buddy. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, and we are keeping you close in our hearts, Lowell.

There is no telling how many homes, multi-family properties, and commercial buildings Buddy built. He taught building trades at Doyle High School briefly and built dozens of homes within just a few miles of the school. Some of the students learned trades on his job sites. He also took foreclosed homes that had been neglected and unappreciated and turned them into a great place to raise a family and call home. Buddy was a force. He was driven to achieve. He came from poverty when times were tough and became successful from almost any way you could measure it. He was tough and yet could be the most kind and generous person you could imagine, always willing to help a person who was in need. I learned much from him. Even when he was in his early 70's I found myself up on roofs, in attics, and in other places you would not expect to find a man of his age and he could outwork me. Now he rests.
Job 14:14-15
14 If a man dies, can he live again?
I will wait all the days of my compulsory service
Until my relief comes.
15 You will call, and I will answer you.
You will long for the work of your hands.
