Jessie "Butch" Leroy Underwood, age 83, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025. Jessie was born in Louisville, KY. He retired after many years of working for Robertshaw-Fulton.
Jessie loved being a resident at NHC Fort Sanders. He enjoyed being with and talking with others. He earned the title of Hall Monitor. He loved playing Bingo and taking part in all of the activities. Jessie was at home there. The family would like to extend a thank you to all of the staff at NHC Fort Sanders for all of their loving care they showed him during his time there.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Jean Underwood; parents, Jessie Sr and Cecile Underwood; and sister, Brenda Sue Lee.
Jessie is survived by his sister, Judy Godfrey; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather Thursday September 25, 2025 at 2:45pm at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery in the Mausoleum Chapel for a 3:00PM committal service, with Rev. Greg Wolfe officiating.
