Jettie Carnes Fender, age 80, of Seymour, Tennessee passed away Monday, July 9, 2018. She was born January 12, 1938 in Lancaster, South Carolina, a daughter of the late William Townsley Carnes and Hattie Jane Shute Carnes. Jettie was the wife of John Lewis Fender. She was a homemaker and member of Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee and a former member of Hopewell United Methodist Church in Lancaster, South Carolina. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, John Matthew Fender of Greensboro, North Carolina and Brian Kevin Fender and wife Kelcy Baker Fender of Columbia, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Benjamin Miles Fender and Lily Grace Fender; one sister, Martha C. McCain of Lancaster, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by brothers, Joe David Carnes, Ben F. Carnes, Fred T. Carnes, Harold Brown Carnes, Billy Ray Carnes, and sisters Mary Catoe, Emily Franklin, and Frances "Peepsie" Lee. Per Jettie's wishes she was cremated and her cremains will be interred at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery. A private immediate family only service will be scheduled at a later date.
