Joan Katherine Heiting

Joan Katherine Heiting, age 85, of Richardson, Texas passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. Joan was born to John and Wilberta Jelinski of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. While attending Marquette University, she met her loving husband of 64 years. After graduation, they relocated to Dallas, Texas and raised their family. Joan began teaching at Aldridge Elementary School, and simultaneously continued her education at TWU where she obtained her master’s and doctorate degrees. She then transitioned to the role of principal, overseeing the opening of new schools in the Plano School District. Her greatest pleasures were her children and serving the community through education and faith for generations to come.

Joan was deeply involved in St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church and cherished serving the community and the relationships cultivated over a lifetime.

Joan is survived by her children: David Heiting, Kathy Garcia, and Michael Heiting; grandchildren, Lacy Elkins, Justin Elkins, Caitlyn Heiting, Sean Heiting, Ben Heiting, Wyatt Heiting, and Colin Heiting; great grandchildren, Rickey Allen, Kennedy Sinclair and Sonny Heiting; sisters, Sue Haag, Jen Herchen, and brother David Jelinski.

A visitation will be held for Joan on Saturday, January 7, 2022 at 11am at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home with a prayer service to follow at 1pm.
