JoAnn Farmer

JoAnn Farmer, age 86, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Our beautiful mother was a kind hearted soul that always put the needs of everyone else above her first. She loved with her whole heart and her family meant everything to her.

She lived a joyful 86 years full of laughter with friends, enjoying many travel adventures, being heavily involved with her church, and loving her family. She was born on May 19, 1940 in Knoxville, the place she's always called home. She worked with some of her dearest friends for 30 years at National Life/American General. She continued over the years to meet up with her closest girlfriends for lunch and spent many years taking spontaneous adventures across the states after retirement. She was beloved by her church family where she devoted many years singing in the choir, meeting with her church group for outings, assisting with Homecoming events, and proudly worshiping the Lord.

Her family remembers her for her unwavering love, her contagious laughter, her warm embrace, her many amazing family recipes, her absolute love for Christmas, and singing lullaby's to all her grandbabies even in her final days. She will be remembered by many for the gracious impact she made on their lives and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Volena Dishman, husband, George Esco Farmer Jr., sister, Betty Adams, brother-in law Frank Adams, and special friend Jimmy Bittle.

Survived by son Steve Farmer, daughter Donna Lane, son-inlaw Charlie Lane, grandchildren Morgan Trammell (Charlie Trammell), Brandon Lane (Christina Lane), 3 great-grandchildren, nephew Terry Adams (Hope Adams) and family, sister-in-law Edna Farmer, brother-in-law David Farmer and family

Visitation will be held at Weaver Funeral Home, 5815 Western Ave, Knoxville, TN 37921, on October 5, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

A Committal Service will take place at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Rd, Powell, TN 37849, on October 5, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
