Jennings, Joel Franklin, age 88, of Powell, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge. He worked over 40 years as Captain of the Martin Marietta Fire Department at Y-12 and K-25. He gave many years of volunteer service at Bell's Campground Cemetery and was an honorary trustee. Joel was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving in Europe; he was a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Edith Jennings; and brother, David A.D. Jennings.
Survived by his sister, Lucille Tinsley of Jefferson City; nephew, Dr. David K. Jennings of Memphis; nieces, carole Holbrook of Oak Ridge and Dianne Reagan of Jefferson City; sister-in-law, June Jennings of Powell. The family will receive friends 1:00- 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Weaver's and then meet at Bell's Campground Cemetery fo a 3:00 p.m. military burial.
