John is a faithful servant of Christ Jesus. Ministering steadfastly at his church, Harvest Christian Fellowship. Through his evangelism in the food pantry, his fellowship with the men’s group, and his rock steady support of all things in Jesus name, John spent his so-journey spreading the Good News of Christ Jesus.
John was a veteran of World War II, serving his country with honor in the Army Air Corp., specifically D-Day. After the war, John took in and raised a refugee child from Germany, Elsa Schreck. John owned and operated Red Mill Knitting, Queens, NY.
Those awaiting the new day’s dawn: the love of his life, Betty; daughter, Tame Bieber; son and daughter-in-law, John and Vicki Newton. Grand Children: Bethany, Emma, Samuel and wife Mary, Jacob and his wife, Emily. Great grandsons: Matthew, Alastor and Ezra. Daughter, Donna and husband Roger Thomas; granddaughters: Melissa, Samantha and Melody. Fourteen great grandchildren and nine great, great grand children. Elsa Schreck’s three children, John, Lilly and Danny (who called John, Grandpa). Twelve great grandchildren. His special ‘niece’ Sharon Farruggia.
To list his dear friends, church family, fellow ministers of Christ, and those whose lives John touched over his 96 years would fill several pages, suffice it to say….. “We’ll see you in the morning, John (Papaw).”
