

Flowers, John Thomas “Tommy”- age 64, of Knoxville, TN, passed away Tuesday morning, October 4, 2011 at his home under the wonderful care of the nurses from St. Mary’s Residential Hospice. He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church where he was involved in volunteering at Manna House where he befriended a very special group of people who were near and dear to his heart. He also served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, was formerly employed in management with the United Parcel Service, and was an avid tennis player at both the Knoxville Racquet Club and Cedar Bluff Racquet Club. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Rankin Fannon, and father, John Walton Flowers, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Shamblin Flowers; daughters, Casey Flowers and husband, Evan Hauser, and Courtney Cruze and husband, George Cruze; step-son, Mike Shamblin, and wife, Leslie Shamblin; grandchildren, Ayla and Finnley Hauser, Auroa and Lennon Thomas Cruze, and Abby and Rachel Shamblin; and sister, Brenda Ooten of Marietta, Georgia. Services, followed by a receiving of family and friends, will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 6, 2011 with Rev. Rebekah Fetzer and Rev. Jason Gattis at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 9919 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37922. Burial will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Woodlawn Cemetery, 4500 Woodlawn Pike, and Knoxville, TN 37920.
