
Miser, John Pyle, passed away recently at his home. Born on March 3, 1919 in Fayetteville, AR, he grew up in Nashville where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University. He worked most of his life at Oak Ridge National Laboratories. He attended Graystone Presbyterian Church, where he served as Elder, Sunday School Teacher and sang in church choirs since he was 15. He was also active in AARP where he edited the newsletter. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Lee and Nellie Pyle Miser; his wives, Marian Krueger Miser and Virginia Jordan Miser; older brother, Hugh Jordan Miser; and sister, Mary Miser Hamilton. He is survived by two daughters, Peggy Newberry and Marilyn Lamar; two granddaughters, Beth Lamar Turner and her husband, Michael and Christine Lamar Faust and her husband Chuck; a great-grandson, Matthew Turner; great-granddaughter, baby girl Faust; brother, James Wilson Miser and his wife, Carolyn; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to Graystone Presbyterian Church, 139 Woodlawn Pike, Knoxville, TN 37920. The service will be in the chapel at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 12:00 noon, with Dr. Larry Hichens officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will be on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 11:30 C.S.T. at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville, TN.
