John "Don" Donathan Yarbrough
November 28, 1938 – May 23, 2023

John "Don" Donathan Yarbrough, age 84, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Don was born in Etowah, Tennessee. Don graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan and received a Masters of Religious Education from Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He also received a Masters of Science from the University of Tennessee in curriculum and supervision, and was an avid UT sports fan holding season football tickets since 1968. He taught in Knox County schools for 36 years, with most of that time spent at Halls Middle School. Don served as a deacon at Central Baptist Church of Fountain City and worked many years with the singles department. Don had a passion for genealogy and authored three family history books.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucille Yarbrough. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 64 years, Jane; son, Marty Yarbrough and daughter-in-law, Aimee; granddaughters, Emma and Evie Yarbrough; sister, Elizabeth Moates of Etowah and numerous nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Jamie Derrick and Beverly Humphreys and nephew, John Humphreys.
Don's family will be receiving friends on June 3, 2023 from 2-4pm with a memorial service to follow at Central Baptist Church of Fountain City.
