He was a long-time resident of Atlanta Georgia; and moved back to Knoxville twelve years ago, to live with his brother, as a result of an illness that limited his mobility. After returning to Knoxville, and in spite of his mobility issues, Johnny loved to spend time working in his yard and taking care of his flowers. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, specializing in abstract art. Along with his artistic talent, he also had a talent for writing and for interior design.
Johnny had an incredibly dry sense of humor, which kept his family and friends continually amused. He was very intellectual; and enjoyed philosophical discussions.
Johnny was preceded in death by his Father, Charles H. Edge; his Mother, Mary Dunlap Edge; and his two brothers, Charles Robert (Bobby) Edge and Thomas Dunlap (Tommy) Edge.
He is survived by two nieces, Carolyn Stacy Edge and Katy Edge Ensley; and a nephew, Thomas Rule (Tommy) Edge. Johnny did not have any children or grand-children; but was also survived by his great-nephews; Seth Ensley, Joseph Ensley, Jason Rumler and Jesse Rumler; and by his great-niece, Anna-Grace Edge.
A grave-side service for the family was held on July 11, 2020 at 3:00pm at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.
