Sparks, Joyce A. May 28, 1936 - May 27, 2021. Joyce dedicated her life to serving Jesus Christ and loving her family. Joyce worked tirelessly as a devoted Pastor’s wife for close to 50 years. During that time, Joyce taught Sunday School, organized Vacation Bible School’s, planned and coordinated Church fellowship meals and sang in the choir. Professionally, Joyce worked for State Farm Insurance and retired after close to 40 years of service in the Knoxville Claims Office. Since the passing of I.A., Joyce was beyond dedicated to her family. Her daughter Mickie and her were inseparable and became best friends. Her “pride and joy” was her grandsons, Brad and Bryan, that is, until her great-grandchildren were born and both Brad and Bryan knew that they had been replaced. Joyce took great pride in that she was able to keep Josiah and Annabella since they were babies and considered the time she spent doing arts and crafts with Brayley, Hailey and Marley extremely special. Joyce’s legacy is one that is filled with love and compassion but her main lesson was that outside of salvation, there is nothing more important than having a close, loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents Roy and Dorothy Wells, brothers, James, Fred, Jerry and Bobby Wells, sister Neva Sands, faithful husband and best friend, Rev. I.A. Sparks and their son, Wendell. To cherish her memories, she leaves behind her beloved daughter, Mickie, grandsons Brad (Kathryn) and Bryan (Jayme) and her great grandchildren, Josiah, Annabella, Brayley, Hailey and Marley, sisters, Dorothy Savage and Helen Bailey. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at South High Senior Living and Amedysis Hospice for both the excellent care and love she was shown during her time with them. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to South Point Church, formerly known as Gospel Baptist Church at 1029 Avenue A, Knoxville, TN 37920. Family will receive friends at Weaver Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5pm-6pm with a service to follow officiated by Bryan Hair. Friends and family will meet Wednesday at Solway Church of God Cemetery at 10:15am for an internment service at 10:30am. Condolences are welcome at weaverfuneralservices.com.
