Judith Pitney, age 78, of Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, passed peacefully on May 1, 2026. Born on October 2, 1947, Judy lived a life defined by warmth, grace, and an extraordinary gift for leaving a lasting impression on every person she encountered.
Judy was a faithful member of St. James Episcopal Church, where her presence was a steady source of comfort and community to those around her.
A proud Indiana native, Judy graduated from Elkhart High School before furthering her education at Indiana University South Bend. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Bethel College, while working at LaBour Pump Company in Elkhart, Indiana. Her professional life reflected the same dedication and integrity that characterized everything she did.
Wherever Judy went, she left a lasting impression on each person she met — a testament to a life well and fully lived.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Merlin Truex Jr., and her mother, Jeanette McKeebie Truex.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura Strycker; step-sisters Judy Snyder, Linda Kinner and Anna Pitney; brother, Thomas Truex; step-brothers Michael Pitney and Nolan Pitney. Judy is also survived by her grandchildren Lukah Strycker and Gillian Strycker, great-granddaughter Wynter Strycker; step-son David Pitney, step-grandsons Trevor Pitney and Tyler Pitney, great-grandsons Nehemiah Pitney and Shepherd Pitney; and step-daughter Robin VanDalsen, step-granddaughter Megan Chauncey.
In accordance to Judy's wishes, there will be no services.
