Just read Judy's obit in the Times-Daily. Saddened and reminded again of how much Thomas & I missed Judy and Roy after they moved to Knoxville. They were about the only people that Thomas enjoyed being with. Thomas died in 2014. I wish I had written at least one of the letters I intended to send Judy! Roy and all of you will be in my thoughts. I will let Peggy Green know about Judy's death. She does not get the paper.

Judy and Roy were our neighbors when we lived in Tuscumbia. They were the best neighbors anyone could ask for. Judy was a BIG animal lover which is a passion we both shared. Thought about them many times since we moved and want Roy to know that we are so very sorry for his and the family's loss. We know that she is certainly going to be missed. Prayers and comfort to you all .

Biography

Judy Marie Rutland was known as many things to many people. She was a daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a mother-in-law, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a friend, and the person who would help anyone anytime, whether she new them or not.

She was born on June 7, 1937 in Waterloo, Iowa to Otto and Virginia Tegard.

Judy had two sisters, Betty and Carol, who both preceded her in death. She and her sisters experienced many of life's ups and downs through the years. They kept in touch and loved each other greatly although they lived across the country from each other.

Judy married Roy Gene Rutland in Reno, NV on November 21,1964 in a wedding chapel. They were married for 53 years. They had a loving relationship and family life.

Judy had five children. One son, Ron and four daughters, Darla, Carla, Ginny and Tracey. She also had nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Nothing was more important to Judy than her family.

Judy worked in childcare most of her adult life. Whether raising her five children or running her home daycare, she was an excellent caregiver. It is what she enjoyed doing.....taking care of others.

She loved to go shopping, reading, arts and crafts, traveling, anything related to animals, and spending time with family. Judy liked to visit new places. Some of her favorite vacations include camping all over the USA, a trip to Australia with her sister, and a family cruise to the Bahamas.

She had many pets through the years. Midnight, Sandy, Mac and Pearl were a few of Judy's favorite dogs that she owned. She loved all creatures great and small and was an avid animal rescuer.

Her later years involved relocating from Tuscumbia, Alabama to Knoxville, Tennessee to be closet to family.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Gene Rutland, her five children, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Judy's life was remembered on April 22, 2018 with a Celebration of Life service with close family and friends. In remembrance of Judy some of her favorite things were included: the color red, hats, music, dance, lilies and the releasing of white doves.

Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Judy Marie Rutland with much love and fond memories.
