Kathleen G Young

Kathleen Galyon Young, age 93, of South Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Summit View of Farragut. Kathleen was a longtime member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church where she was active in the WMV and YWA. She was the assistant director of the Montgomery Village Baptist Center and faithfully worked for twenty years in the clothing ministry. She was an expert seamstress sewing numerous wedding gowns, dresses, and other clothing. Kathleen was devoted to her family and would follow her family’s sports careers to many locations. She was employed at Millers Department Store for 30 years as a sales manager. Preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William Emzy Young, Sr.; parents, Roy B and Ora Galyon; brother, Carl B Galyon; son-in-law, Ralph D Reynolds, Jr.; sister-in-law, Catherine Galyon; brother-in-law, Wiley Hodges. She is survived by daughter, Dianna Reynolds; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Janet Young; grandchildren, Jenise Reynolds (Tom) Woolf, Christy Reynolds (Fred) Yahr, Bill (Jen) Reynolds, Eileen Young (Jon) Boroughs, Anne Young (Kevin) Thomas; great-grandchildren, John, Christy, Ethan, Emily, Sam, Jake, Delton, Jack, Isaak, Jonah, Billy, and Bridgette; sisters, Lorraine Hodges, Della Jo (Audley) Hamrick; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Dean Mire and wife, Cindy and the staff of Summit View of Farragut for their excellent love and care. Pallbearers will be the grandsons and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Montgomery Village Baptist Center, 4601 Joe Lewis Rd, Knoxville, TN 37920. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 11:30am until 1:00pm in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00pm, Dr. Richard Lewelling officiating.
