Kathryn Louise (Maples) Wilson, 85, passed away on October 19, 2026. Born April 18, 1941, Kathryn will be remembered with deep gratitude and affection by all who were blessed to know her—someone whose steady faith, warm humor, and generous heart helped make ordinary days feel a little brighter.
A devoted member of Midway Baptist Church, Kathryn’s life reflected a quiet, enduring commitment to what mattered most. She was a loyal churchgoer and served as the church treasurer for many years, giving her time with care and integrity. In every setting—among friends, in her church family, and throughout her community—she carried herself with thoughtfulness and a kind-hearted spirit that made others feel seen and valued.
Kathryn’s love for family was one of the clearest joys of her life. She cherished family gatherings and especially treasured visits from loved ones. She had a gift for caring in practical, memorable ways—most famously by making sure everyone had a birthday cake. She enjoyed baking and decorating cakes for others, always putting someone else first and finding happiness in the simple act of making another person feel celebrated.
She also knew how to savor life’s comforts and pleasures. Kathryn loved the beach, and she faithfully kept up with her favorite soap opera, “The Young and the Restless,” watching every day. These familiar joys, along with her steady devotion to others, formed the rhythm of a life that was both hard-working and deeply cherished.
In the wider community, Kathryn’s generosity continued to show itself through her time at senior centers and in the ways she assisted elderly friends as needed. Her presence was a dependable one—loyal, beloved, and quietly uplifting, offered without fanfare and given with sincerity.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her father, Charles "Charlie" Maples; her mother, Clara Maude Kerr Maples; her daughter, Peggy Marlene Green; her brother, Tony Maples; her brother-in-law, Lloyd Heath; her sister-in-law, Deb Maples and her grandson, Dusty Lee Green.
She is survived by her daughter, Terry Wilson McCroskey (Rick); her sons, Carl Ricky Wilson (Doris) and Michael Jay Wilson; her grandchildren, Amanda Long (Steven), Rebecca Arnwine (Keith), Jeremy Green, Samatha Wilson, Shadrick J.
