King David Abner Coney, age 62, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022. He was born on July 17, 1959 in Gary, Indiana. King David was the son of Dorothy English and Willie Coney. He proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corp. He was employed as a truck driver for more than 30 years. King David loved his wife and children tremendously and enjoyed spending time with his family. King David (Fatoki Oluseye) dedicated his life as a Babalawo-which means African Priest out of Osogbo, Nigeria. He had a smile that would light up a room. He was an avid Raiders and Lakers Fan. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, caring heart and good character that will live on with us.
He is preceded in death by parents, Willie and Dorothy Coney and sister, Nkechi Ajanaku and Uncle John and Elijah English.
King David is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly; sons, Broderick Moore and David Coney; daughter, Malaina Leffall; brother, Sterling Coney; aunt, Worine English; father and mother-in-law, Herbert and Bertha Leffall; host of nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great nephews and beloved cousins.
A Committal Service will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 8:30am, East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 East Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920 with full military honors provided by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard and the Marine Corp. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 11:00am in the chapel of McCarty Evergreen Funeral Home, 7426 Asheville Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37924.
