Larry Geise Mason

Larry G. Mason age 76 of Knoxville, passed away August 7, 2018 at his home. He attended Kern Memorial United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge. Graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1960. He excelled in many sports including football, basketball and track. He was on the 1958 National Championship Football Team and in the Oak Ridge High School Sports Hall of Fame. Larry was appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1960 and later attended Tennessee Tech graduating with a Bachelor's Degree. He retired from J.C. Penney in 1998 after 33 years of service. Preceded in death by wife, Janet Clifton Mason and parents, Charles and Lora Mason. Survived by wife, Linda Cagle Mason; sons, Robert (Kim) Mason and B.J. (Amy) Mason; step-son, Bryan (Summer) Dinnes; 6 grandsons and 4 granddaughters; brother, Joe (Ann) Mason; sisters, Kay Hamrick and Wanda Podeweltz; his beloved dogs, Cally and Darby. The family will receive friends 6-7 pm Saturday at Kern Memorial United Methodist Church, 451 E. Tennessee Ave., Oak Ridge, TN 37830 a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Tennessee Gardens.
