After several years of struggling with heart failure and diabetes Larry Steve Stinnett went home to be with our Lord and Savior on February 1, 2025. Steve was born on January 4, 1947 in Loudon, TN to Rev. William Paul Stinnett and Mary Sue Chastain. Steve was the oldest of six children, MIke, Tony, Tim, Pamela, and Peggy Stinnett.
Steve graduated for Loudon High School and entered the Marine Corp. In September of 1967, he married his wife Brenda Joyce Stewart Stinnett whom he had known since childhood. Steve spent four years in the Marine Corp, and served his time in Vietnam. A few years after returning home they adopted their first daughter, Hope Marie in January 1974. Ten years later Elizabeth Joyce Stinnett was born on January 31, 1983. In those years Steve finished his degree and received his Bachelors of Arts at the University of Tennessee while serving the citizens of his community with the Knoxville Police Department. After 27 years of service with the Knoxville Police Department, he retired so he could spend more quality time with his family and his grandchildren. Steve loved spending time in the Smoky Mountains and Cades Cove with his family and was always found behind the lens of a camera taking pictures. His passion for photography ensured that ever family adventure was well-documented and cherished. Steve was very grounded in his christian faith and his love for God. He served as a deacon for Mt. Olive Baptist Church for many years and was recently a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. He was always looking for opportunities to minister and share his love for God with others as well as his family. Steve is survived by his wife Brenda; daughter, and son-in-law, Hope and Steve Lacey, of Albertville, AL; grandchildren, Malachi Delaney, Joshua Delaney, Zachariah Delaney and Kiley Lacey Street (Carter). Steve was also looking forward to the arrival of his first great-granddaughter, Brooklyn in April. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Elizabeth Stinnett; brother, Tony Stinnett; sister, Peggy Cameon. Steve will be greatly missed by all.
