

Stanfill, Leland Clois, age 92, of South Knoxville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Leland was born and raised in Lexington Tennessee and was drafted out of high school into the U.S. Army where he served during World War II. After returning home, he completed a two-year program at UT Martin, married Lounelle Garner, and upon moving to Knoxville graduated from The University of Tennessee in Animal Husbandry. He retired after many years of operating his own business in the cattle industry. Leland was a well-known beagler in the area and one of his greatest joys was listening to his beagles run a rabbit. He was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Leland was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. Survived by his loving wife, Lounelle, of 67 years; son and daughter-in-law, David and Willamae Stanfill; daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Steve Gordon; daughter Dian Stanfill and Steve Wilson; grandchildren, Sarah Stanfill, Benjamin Ownby and Tony Washington; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, August 14, 2015 at Berry Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet Saturday August, 15, 2015 at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Maryville Pike, for a 10:00 AM Graveside service with Reverend Danny Davis officiating. Military Honors provided by the Army National Guard.
