He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Roger Cole and Sibby Cole; brothers, Carl Edward, Ronnie, and Jerry; and his sister, Patsy.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Clift Cole; sons, Douglas (Jeannie) and Andy (Karyn); grandchildren, Aaron and Ellie Cole and Jacob and Alex Kate.
Leon will be interred at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Faith Lutheran Church of Knoxville.
