

Lyle, Leota Goforth, took her last breath in her home in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on July 11, 2011. She was 91 years young, born April 4, 1920 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Leota had been an active member of First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge and of the Oak Ridge Women’s Club since the early 1950’s and was retired from the City of Oak Ridge Recreation Department where she was the secretary to the Director from 1969 to 1982. She is preceded in death by her son, Roger Alan Lyle (12/24/1999) and her husband, Robert L. “Bob” Lyle (9/25/1973). Her husband, Bob, was Deputy Director of Finance for the Atomic Energy Commission/D.O.E. in Oak Ridge and President of the Oak Ridge Boys Club. She is also preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings and their spouses: Ethel M. Gilbert and Charles L. Goforth, Ella Nell (Mrs. Oliver Skeen), Bonnie Lynn (Mrs. James Carr), Charles Goforth and his wife, Barrie, Woodrow Howard Goforth and his wife, Evelyn, Edward Perry Goforth and his wife, Lucille, and Mildred Cleo (Mrs. Anders Larson). Leota is survived by her daughter, Margaret Andrea “Andy” Lyle; and son, Robert L. “Bob” Lyle, Jr.; their spouses, Gary R. McGhee and Stephanie L. Lyle; sister-in-law, Betty “Peg” Ford Lyle; nieces and nephews from both the Goforth and Lyle families; and special friends, Stephanie Bryant, Angel Cerrelli, Pam Oliver, and Jane Perkins. The family wishes to thank the staff of Clinch River Home Health Care for their loving assistance during Leota’s last months. Family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home, Saturday, July 16, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and proceed to Woodlawn Cemetery for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service.
