Leroy was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Leroy was born on February 22, 1942 in Townsend, TN and spent his life spreading joy and kindness to everyone he encountered. He had a passion for animals, gardening, spending time with his sons on the plateau, watching Nascar with his sons and grandchildren, and real country music. He retired from Briggs in 2004, where he worked as a mechanic. He was president of Sheet Metal Workers Local 464, where he met his wife, Sylvia.
Leroy is survived by: Wife; Sylvia Jenkins Garland; Sons: David Garland (Ann), Mack Garland, Dennis Jenkins (Cheri), Ernest Jenkins(Michelle), and Steve Jenkins (Margie); Eight grandchildren: Cody Garland (Halie), Kaitlyn Garland Harrill (Colton), Heather Jenkins Bendezu (Gino), Josh Jenkins (Samantha), Dakota Jenkins, Tommy Kelley, Chris Kelley (Danielle), and Mike Greene; Nine great grandchildren: Levi Harrill, Weston Harrill, Lucy Garland, Lane Garland, Aria Bendezu, Kinley Crain, Nora Jenkins, Landry Jenkins, and Renleigh Kelley; two sisters, Ruby Jo Long, Joyce Shirley, and his special sister-in-law, Shirley Hayes.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Minnie Belle Garland; father, Alvin Garland; son, Roy Garland, and sister, Virginia Braunstien.
A Receiving of Friends and Family for Leroy will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at McCarty - Evergreen Funeral Home, 7426 Asheville Highway, Knoxville, TN 37924, followed by a Memorial Service to honor Leroy's life at 4:00 PM.
May Leroy Garland rest in peace, knowing that he was loved and respected by his family and friends. He will be forever missed and cherished in our hearts.
