

Thomas, Evelyn Davis, passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at her daughter’s home in St. Simon’s Island, GA, where she has lived for the past five years. Knoxville was her home for 87 years and she was a member of Meridian Baptist Church. Evelyn was a woman who loved life and lived each day of her 92 years with abundant joy. Her life was full: faith, family, friends and her flowers. In her presence they all bloomed to their fullest. Evelyn was born on October 29, 1918 to John and Inez Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Thomas; son-in-law, Steve Carter; sisters, Ruby Boles and Hazel Headrick; brothers, John L. and Charles Davis. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Janie Carter of St. Simon’s Island Georgia; son, William “Bill” Earl Thomas Jr., of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandsons, Blake Thomas of Nashville, Tennessee, Matt Morgan (Katie) of Atlanta, Georgia, Alan Morgan, (Claire), of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Elizabeth Nolan, (Patrick), of Cincinnati, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Carter and Timothy Morgan and Nicholas, Sydney, and Jack Nolan; sisters, Mae Owens and Stella Hickman, (Ralph); and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends in Knoxville. In St Simon’s Island, she leaves her beloved friend, Joe Shelby and the Shelby family, her Neptune Way neighbors, and her church on the Island, First Baptist. Family will receive friends in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home on Saturday, December 4, 2010 from 12:30 - 2 p.m. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Dana Fachman officiating.
