home in Seymour, Tennessee, after a courageous battle with stage 4 cancer. She was 92 years
old. Born on December 3, 1933, in Eustis, Florida, to her parents, Thelma Elizabeth
McCampbell and William (Bill) McCampbell, Margie lived a life distinguished by grace,
generosity, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved.
From an early age, Margie demonstrated remarkable intellect and poise. She graduated as
Valedictorian of her senior class at Everett High School, where she also earned the honor of
being named Miss Hill Topper. These early achievements foreshadowed a life lived with
purpose, elegance, and determination.
Margie married the love of her life, Charles Seright Hobbs, Jr. (Charlie), and together they
built not only a family but a lasting legacy through Holly Hills Memorial Parks and Funeral
Homes. What began as a shared dream grew into a thriving enterprise, and Margie took
tremendous pride in designing and decorating the three beautiful funeral homes she and
Charlie created together. She poured her artistic eye and personal touch into every detail,
ensuring that each space offered dignity and comfort to the families they served. She and
Charlie also hosted many political and community events at their home, fostering
relationships that helped build their business and strengthen their community bonds.
Among her proudest accomplishments was the historic older home also known as the old
stagecoach stop she and Charlie lovingly restored, transforming it into the cherished place
where they raised their family for 40 years. That home, filled with laughter, warmth, and
memories, stood as a testament to Margie's gift for creating beauty in the world around her.
Margie was a woman of many talents and passions. She was a competitive couples roller
skate dancer, a ballroom dancing instructor, an avid tennis player, and a gifted artist, she
brought creativity to everything she touched. She and Charlie shared a love of travel and the
beach, embarking on many wonderful trips together throughout their years of marriage.
Margie also had a deep love for animals, opening her heart and home to strays, rescues, and
beloved pets alike.
Above all, Margie was a caregiver who always put others before herself. She was one of the
strongest and most loving mothers to her two daughters who adored her greatly. She
possessed a sharp wit and a gift for making people laugh, lighting up every room she entered.
She carried herself with a timeless elegance that was entirely her own. She was sweet, caring,
and remarkably intelligent, and those who knew her were forever better for it.
Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie Hobbs, She is survived by her
daughter, Marcie Mayers, and husband Thomas Mayers, daughter Holly Bryan and husband
Bob Bryan, all of who held a special place in her heart. Her five grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren were among her most prized blessings, and she cherished every moment spent
with them. They include: Sophia Mayers and her partner Blaise Rooney, Gabrielle Mayers,
Isabella Mayers, Charlie Bryan, and Brady Bryan; her great-grandchildren, Chadly Rooney,
and Camp Rooney.
In accordance with her wishes, Margie will be cremated and returned to the loving care of her
family, who will continue to celebrate the extraordinary life she shared with them.
Margie's faith provided her with comfort and strength throughout her life, and it is fitting that
her family finds solace now in the words of Psalm 23: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not
want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He
restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea,
though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with
me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence
of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and
mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for
ever."
Rest now, dear Margie. You are home. Condolences may be offered at www.berryhighlandsouth.com
