Mary Ellen "Dottie" Gammon, a beloved and devoted child of God, went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on June 10, 1937, to her parents Ralph and Lena Cupp. Dottie was a cherished resident of Knoxville, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Gordon Gammon, and her parents, Ralph Parks Cupp and Lena Belle Goddard Cupp.
She is survived by her loving family, including her daughter Deena McStay and husband John, sons Randy Gammon and wife Kathy, and Lance Gammon and wife Katie. She was a proud grandmother to Misty, Dustin, Cody, Dylan, Sarah, and Leah, as well as a great grandmother to Kayla, Chad, McKenzie, Elijah, Kylo, Eden, Camden, and Griffin.
Dottie dedicated her professional life as a Medical Unit Secretary, where her kindness and selflessness were evident. Her devotion extended beyond her career, as she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her commitment to her family and community was unwavering.
An active member of the Church of Christ, Dottie's faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and interactions with others. Her involvement and dedication to her church were a testament to her loyal and devoted nature.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lyonsview Health and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care and support.
Dottie will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, and her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
Family and friends will gather Monday, January 19, 2026 for a 1:00 PM Graveside Service in the Garden of Baptism at Berry Highland South Cemetery, 9010 E Simpson Rd, Knoxville, TN 37920
