Mary Ruth Long Henry (Mamaw) passed away Sunday, September third, at Atria Assisted Living after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Walland, TN in 1936. She was retired from Big Lots. Mary had the deepest love for her family and friends. Her passions were reading, crocheting, playing Words with Friends, and attending Appalachian/Gospel music at Rocky Branch Community Center.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Louis Henry, one sister and seven brothers. She is survived by her children, sons: Warren (Sarah) Henry and Louis (Amy) Henry Jr., daughter: Kathy (James) Shirk; five grandchildren: Jill (Aaron) Mize, Marie (Matt) Glapiak, Douglas (Joy) Henry, Alex Henry and Lydia Henry; four great grandchildren: Cameron and Colbie Mize; Feliks and Liliana Glapiak; one brother: Billy Ray (Saundra) Long. She also leaves behind her two best friends: Kirstan Sysco and her book and reading friend Eileen Pokodner, Michael Beeler, and Tim Keith whom she considered her second sons, and all her dear friends at Rocky Branch Community Center. The family would like to thank the loving and caring staff at NHC Farragut and Atria Assisted Living for loving her and taking such good care of her.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 9th from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00pm at Berry Highland West Funeral Home, with a private committal service immediately following. Pallbearers will be Aaron Mize, Alex Henry, Douglas Henry, Houston Havasy, Mason Guess, Michael Tanner, and Matthew Glapiak. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rocky Branch Community Center. P.O. Box 118 Walland, TN 37886.
