OBITUARY

Mary C. Jones

December 24, 1933October 25, 2020

Mary Guyla Clark Jones, of Knoxville, went home to be the Lord on October 25, 2020 at 86 years old. Mary will always be remembered for her warm smile, quick wit, charm and compassion. Mary had the blessing of two wonderful church families in Knoxville. The first at First Cumberland Presbyterian church and in her later years at Meridian Baptist church. She was a long-time Sunday school teacher where she loved and nurtured generations of children on their Christian journey. Mary had a long professional career as an executive assistant at Lawler Wood Inc. where she was well respected for her strong administrative and organizational skills as well as her great sense of style and fashion. Mary spent her retirement years surrounded by friends and family. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved husband Ronald, working, traveling, hiking and biking, and despite her sweet nature, she could play a mean hand of Canasta. Wherever she was, Mary had a magical way of making everyone around her feel loved, accepted and encouraged. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald E. Jones, Sr. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her devoted children, Rhonda Holloway and husband Bob; Kathryn Distrola and husband Andrew; Ron Jones and wife Allison; cherished grandson, McLeod “Mac” Everett Jones, and a host of extended family and friends. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 29, at 6:00 p.m. at Meridian Baptist Church, with Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Open Viewing prior at Berry Highland South Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. Family will gather at Berry Highland South Cemetery on Friday, October 30 at 11:00 a.m. for a Graveside Service. The family requests that appropriate face covering and social distancing measures be observed due to COVID-19. Online condolences may be made below.

Dearest Rhonda - Kathy - Ron:
I was so sadden to learn of Mary’s passing. Your Mom holds a special place in my heart. Her grace and faith were an example for me.
I remember several occasions when Mary would stop her work day to say a prayer or give a much needed hug. Her kind heart and fierce loyalty seemed to make perfect friends. Yet it was her lovely smile that welcomed all unconditionally.
If memory serves me ... Mary could whip up a Delicious batch of chocolate fudge. My Dad would count the days til Mary’s fudge would appear!
Please know I’m sending prayer for your families.
May God’s comfort surround you ...
And His peace be with you.

With Love - Kim Wood

Jim and I shared many business and social experiences with Mary and Ron. I especially admired her sweet smile and graceful manner. She stood out in any situation as an example to us all. She was a beautiful person in all aspects.

Kathryn , and family,

Ron and Mary were so precious to us. We spent a lot of time reminiscing about each of our careers in the military. Judy and I replaced them when they left their position as Sunday School Director and assistant at Meridian, .and each time we enter that office we are reminded of their sweet spirits. We pray that fonder memories will soon replace your feelings of loss. God bless.

Prayers to the Jones family at this time. I worked with Mary at Lawler Wood for many years and there was never a more kind woman. She was certainly special to us all and she will be greatly missed.

All though much time has passed since I have seen Mrs. Mary Jones, I will always remember her as the sweetest and most loving lady. Mrs. Jones was very beautiful and fashionable and she was also a great cook and Mom. Growing up with my sweet friend Kathryn, I ate quite a few meals with the Jones family when I was young and always enjoyed spending time with them.
Kathryn, Ron and Rhonda, you and all your families will be in my thoughts and prayers. Your Mom is now resting with our Lord Jesus.
Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.
Much Love,
Karen Evans Allen

I would like to express my sympathy to your family in this time. I worked with Mary for several years when I was starting my career at Wood Properties. She was always so professional and yet so sweet and kind. I am grateful to have known her. Joe Petre
