

Melanie Ann Jennings Monday born June 23, 1959 at Baptist Hospital to Ronald W. and Martha Ann Davis Jennings passed away December 16, 2020. She was the granddaughter of Florence Goodlin Davis and Jeffrey and Edna Williams Jennings.
Melanie attended South Knoxville Elementary School and graduated from South/South-Young High School where she was active in the high school band, chorus and ran track. After graduation she attended the University of Tennessee and graduated with a BS in Agriculture majoring in Ornamental Horticulture & Landscape Design. Melanie was active with the Baptist Student Association and sang with the UT Chorus. Returning to the University post-graduation, she earned a teaching certificate in Secondary Education with a focus on Science and Math.
Melanie is survived by husband 35 years, Gregory M. Monday; children, William A. (Drew) Monday and daughter, Maren Ann Monday.
Melanie had cross- stitched the following verse prior to her marriage to Greg and they kept it on the wall of their many homes and throughout many family illnesses.
“God, send me anywhere, only go with me. Lay any burden on me, only sustain me. And sever any tie in my heart except the tie that binds my heart to Yours.”
Homes that included Knoxville, Tennessee - 1959-1985 where she was active with Island Home Baptist Church, Girl Scouts receiving the Gold Award, All-city Chorus and UT Chorus European tour; Springhill, Louisiana – 1985-1988 where she was active at First Baptist Church and Springhill Woman’s Club; Panama City, Florida -1988-1997 where she was active at First Baptist Church, Panama City Jr. Woman’s Club, Gulf Coast Woman’s Club and Master Gardener at Lynn Haven Garden Club; Valdosta, Georgia -1997-2009 where she was active at First Baptist Church, a Girl Scout Leader and the a member of the American Association of University Women; Vinton, Virginia – 2009-2016 where she was active at Vinton Baptist Church and Vinton Woman’s Club. She spent the summer of 2012 at Tybee Island and Savannah, Georgia and in 2016 Melanie and family returned to Knoxville and were members of Island Home Baptist Church.
Family and friends may call at their convenience Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 12 to 5 PM at Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway, Knoxville, TN. Family and friends will gather 3 pm Monday, December 21, 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery for graveside services. Rev. Bill Booth officiating.
