Merle Frank Kuberek

Merle Frank Kuberek passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, integrity, and quiet strength. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose kindness, honesty, and unwavering work ethic touched the lives of everyone who knew him. Merle set the standard for what it meant to love his family well and to treat others with respect and compassion.

A 1958 graduate of West High School, Merle proudly served his country in the United States Army while stationed in Germany. Following his military service, he returned home and built a respected career as the owner of Merle’s Bug Shop / Merle’s Auto Service, where his skill, fairness, and genuine care for others earned him the trust and friendship of countless customers. After retiring, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by purchasing a farm in Roane County, where he found great joy, peace, and purpose.

Merle is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Glenna Sorah Kuberek; his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy (Danny) Jackson; grandchildren, Brittany Warwick, Tiffany Warwick (James Slagle), and Brody Jackson; great-grandsons, Trenton Warwick, Jeremiah Darnell, and Marshall Slagle; his bonus grandson, Dane Stevens; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Merle also leaves behind countless friends of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, many of whom he welcomed and loved as family. His heart was always open, and if you were loved by someone he loved, you were loved by Merle as well.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Steve Kuberek; his parents, Max and Hazel Kuberek; and his brothers, Gary Kuberek (Wanda) and John Kuberek.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to Medic in Merle’s memory.

Receiving of Family and Friends will be held at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37919, on July 28, 2026, beginning at 5:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 7:00pm, Pastor Leonard Turner will officiate the service with live stream available at https://Berry-Highland-Memorial.livecontrol.tv/c40c019b

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery at Whispering Waters, at 1:00 pm.
