Nicholas Gage Galyon, age 32, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. In his final moments, his devoted mother held him until he took his last breath. Though their hearts were broken, his family found comfort in knowing they were able to lovingly "hand him off" to his Heavenly Father and to the loved ones who had gone before him - his Dad, Mamaw, and Papaw - who surely welcomed him home with open arms.
Nick was an extraordinary young man whose life touched countless hearts. Though he faced significant health challenges throughout his life, he met each obstacle with a courage and determination that inspired everyone around him. His doctors once described him with a single word written in his chart: "Remarkable." Time and again, Nick's strength and tenacity proved medicine wrong, demonstrating a resilience that amazed both medical professionals and loved ones alike.
Known for his ever present smile and joyful demeanor, Nick chose happiness in circumstances that would have discouraged many. He possessed a rare ability to bring perspective to those around him. Friends, family members, caregivers, and even strangers often remarked that spending time with Nick reminded them to be grateful, to cherish life's blessings, and to focus on what truly matters.
Nick dearly loved music, laughter, and the simple joys of life. He was a devoted fan of Blue's Clues and The Wiggles, finding delight in the things that brought him comfort and happiness. His enthusiasm was contagious, and his joyful spirit brightened every room he entered.
To those who loved him most, Nick was known by many affectionate nicknames, each reflecting the special bond he shared with family: Mitt Riffey, "G," Pal, Goober, Precious, Nickus, Nic Boy, Nic Knock, and Brother Blue. Every nickname carried a story and a reminder of the love that surrounded him throughout his life.
Perhaps one of Nick's greatest legacies was the profound impact he had on the spiritual lives of those around him. He helped pave the way for his Papaw's salvation, a gift that will continue to echo through generations.
Nick's life was not measured by its challenges but by the love he shared, the lives he changed, and the hope he inspired. He taught others what true strength looks like. He showed that joy can coexist with hardship, that kindness can transform hearts, and that a smile can be one of the most powerful gifts a person can offer.
Though his earthly journey has ended, the lessons he taught and the love he gave will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him. His family finds comfort knowing that Nick is now whole, healed, and at peace.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Galyon; papaw, Bob "Lynn" Riffey, and mamaw, Brenda Riffey.
