Nila Jean Carr, a beloved and devoted wife and mother went to be with Jesus on December 5, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on December 5, 1933, in Webster Springs, West Virginia, Nila was a resident of Seymour, Tennessee.
Nila's early life was marked by her move to Knoxville, where she graduated from Old General Hospital in the class of 1955, being part of the first graduating class of U.T. Hospital. She played an instrumental role in setting up the first heart lab at U.T. Hospital. Nila continued to share her nursing experience and advice long after her early retirement.
She was married to Don Roy Carr for 67 years, a testament to her faithful and loyal nature. Nila was a loving mother to her sons, Donnie Carr (Mitzi Carr) and Joe Carr (Vicki Carr), and her late daughter, Sunny Carr Bailey. She was also a cherished grandmother to Carrson Bailey.
Nila had a deep love for her little dog, Molly, and cherished the holidays and special events spent with her family. Her generous and resilient spirit shone through her passion for playing with and sharing her jewelry.
A devoted member of Valley Grove Baptist Church for 50 years, Nila was known for her wise and loyal nature. Her legacy is one of faithfulness and generosity.

A graveside service will be held on December 18, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Berry Highland South Cemetery, 9010 E. Simpson Road, Knoxville.
